May 26, 2024 – A Day of Honor, Brotherhood, and Homecoming
Today, the US Veterans Motorcycle Club had the profound honor of standing in solemn tribute to one of our nation’s fallen heroes—Staff Sergeant Jack Coy. A tail gunner during World War II, Staff Sergeant Coy’s aircraft was shot down over Germany in early 1944. For decades, his fate remained unknown, his sacrifice etched only in history and the hearts of those who remembered.
But thanks to advances in DNA identification and the tireless work of those dedicated to bringing our heroes home, Staff Sergeant Coy was finally identified. And today—after 80 years—he returned to American soil.
Flown into Detroit Metropolitan Airport, his remains were received with the full measure of dignity he earned so long ago. The USVMC was honored to take part in the solemn escort, riding in unity with our brothers from the Special Forces Brotherhood MC and many others, ensuring this hero’s journey back to his hometown of Oregon, Ohio was one of respect, remembrance, and reverence.
With flags flying, engines rumbling low in tribute, and hearts full, we accompanied Staff Sergeant Coy on the final stretch of a journey that began in the skies over war-torn Europe. Surrounded by fellow veterans and patriots, we bore witness to a moment long overdue: a soldier finally laid to rest in the soil of the country he died defending.

It was more than an escort. It was a promise fulfilled.
We will never forget the service and sacrifice of those who gave their all. And we will never stop riding to honor their memory.
Welcome home, Staff Sergeant Jack Coy. Your watch is over.
