As the rumble of our bikes echoes down the streets of Toledo, we ride with more than just chrome and horsepower — we ride with purpose. May is Military Appreciation Month, and for the members of the United States Veterans Motorcycle Club (USVMC) Toledo Chapter, this month isn't just about parades or patriotic hashtags. It’s personal.
We’ve walked in the boots. We’ve stood on the tarmac under foreign skies. We’ve waited for the call, watched the sunrise from a guard post, and we’ve held our brothers and sisters close in both celebration and grief. Each of us in the USVMC carries the weight of our service with pride — and we ride not just for ourselves, but for every warrior who’s ever donned the uniform.
Why Military Appreciation Month Matters
Military Appreciation Month is more than a date on the calendar — it’s a reminder. A reminder that freedom has a cost, and that cost has been paid — and continues to be paid — by the men and women who serve. For those still in uniform, whether stationed here at home or deployed overseas, this month is a signal from the country they protect: we see you, we honor you, we haven’t forgotten you.
And for the veterans among us, it’s a chance to reflect, reconnect, and remind our communities that while our service may have ended, our commitment never will.
What We’re Doing
This month, USVMC Toledo is putting rubber to the road in honor of every service member past and present. We’re hosting rides, meetups, and events around the city designed to raise awareness, raise spirits, and raise support for those who’ve served.
We’ll be making stops at veterans’ homes, hosting care package drives for active duty troops, and teaming up with local organizations to support mental health initiatives and suicide prevention efforts among veterans — causes that are deeply personal to us.
You might see us at local schools, helping the next generation understand what service truly means. You might find us shaking hands and sharing stories at a VA hospital or standing tall during a flag-raising ceremony. Wherever we go, we go as brothers — bound not only by our service, but by our continued mission: to support, to remember, and to ride with honor.
How You Can Help
You don’t have to be a veteran to make a difference. This Military Appreciation Month, we’re asking the Toledo community to stand with us:
Attend an event. Come out and support your local vets. Even a handshake or a thank-you goes further than you think.
Fly the flag. A small gesture with a big message.
Donate to a local veteran’s charity or VA organization.
Reach out to a veteran you know. Sometimes the best way to honor service is simply to listen.
To Our Brothers and Sisters in Arms
If you’re reading this and you’ve worn the uniform — active duty, reserve, or retired — this month is for you. You are not forgotten. You are not alone. And you are part of something that will never die: the unbreakable bond of those who served.
We ride for you. We remember you. We honor you.
In Brotherhood and Respect,

USVMC Toledo Chapter "Still Serving. Still Riding. Never Forgotten."
